About This Item

New York: Howard Ferig, 1978. First edition. REVIEW COPY with publisher's review slip laid in. Written at the age of twenty while awaiting induction into the Army. This is the first publication of the book in the form of a facsimile of Mailer's typescript draft showing extensive handwritten corrections, additions and deletions which appear on nearly every page. One of only 1000 copies printed [Lennons, Works and Days, p.111] -- many of which must have gone to libraries, given the relative scarcity of the book. 4to beige cloth boards; 738 pages plus preliminaries and various appendices. Fine in near fine dust jacket with tiny nick to head of spine and few tears (internally repaired with archival tape).
