Volume contains scholarly apparatus in the form of, e.g., notes, index, and bibliography. The author was born in 1904 in Alabama and became a notable literary and political scientific figure. The volume treats of three 19th-century figures and another three drawn from the 20th century, including Alexander Ramsey, Ignatius Donnelly, James J. Hill, and Floyd B.
