Munari nasce a Milano nel 1907. Nel 27 espone con i futuristi in varie mostre. In seguito lavora come grafico per Mondadori e dal 1945 comincia la sua serie di libri per bambini. Nel 1948 fonda il MAC (Movimento Arte Concreta) insieme a Gillo Dorfles, Gianni Monnet e Anastasio Soldati. Dal 1970 l'interesse per il mondo dell'infanzia monopolizza la sua attivita' e nel 1977 realizza il primo Laboratorio per l'Infanzia alla Pinacoteca di Brera. Da allora la sua fama si e' sparsa per il mondo.
