An incomplete four volume set (lacking volume five), all ranging in fair to very good condition. Volume one has foxing on endpapers, very good in a good only dustwrapper with light dampstaining and short tears on spine ends and corners. Volume two is in fair only condition with moldy dampstain on endpapers and page edges, boards dampstained causing bubbling in the cloth and boards to be bowed, lacking the dustwrapper. Volume three has scattered foxing throughout, cloth bubbling from light dampstain, good only in a fair only dampstained dustwrapper with tears on spine ends and corners. Volume four has light foxing on endpapers, very good in a very good dustwrapper with light dampstain and minor chipping along top edges. Additionally, laid in is the publisher's typed letter noting its many difficulties in publishing this set.
