A very good book that has mainly been well protected by the dust jacket. There is a little toning to the head and foot of the spine aligning to where there is loss to the dust jacket and a little dust staining to the top and bottom edges but otherwise the boards are clean and the titles are bright. There is a little pushing to the top corners. Internally the book is generally very clean with only a hint of spotting to the endpapers and light toning to the uncut edges. Also produced as a film, Mädchen in Uniform, with an all female cast. The film was heavily censored for decades following its release and Winsloe lived in exile, continuing to write plays with lesbian and and gay themes. Winsloe and her partner Simone Gentet were murdered in France in 1944, just at the time of the liberation. An important work.

Harrison Fisher, the "Historian of American Beauty," was an American illustrator whose works regularly appeared on the cover of 'Cosmopolitan' Magazine in the early 1900s.

This first edition of the book 'A Dream of Fair Women' is filled with romantic full-color illustrations of the "Fisher Girl" type. The illustrations are inspired from the text of famous poems decorated in Art Nouveau style by E. Stetson Crawford. A fine piece!
