About This Item
Vantage Press. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. 1988. First Edition. Hardcover. Signed by author. Inscribed and dated (1996) by the author on the half title. Clean straight copy. Black and white map of Greece and surrounding area on pastedown only (front and back). First free endpaper blank. Original dust jacket is not price clipped; worn on all extremities without tears or chips. Clear tape across the spine, partial removal causing some damage without paper or text loss. Interestingly, this work of fiction follows the pattern of Lewnes' own early career. Graduating for the New York Law School in 1955, he worked for about a year in Athens Greece as a special investigator for U.S. Dept. of State. Tikla, a work of fiction is centered around a recently graduated law student, who is recruited and hired to take part in an investigation concerning emigrant backgrounds; he finds instead that he is part of secret task to uncover whether the CIA is running a covert operation without the acknowledgement of President Eisenhower, and the plot thickens. (Conspiracy fodder!) Lewnes eventually became an Administrative Law Judge at the Federal Power Commission (FPC), later the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. This work is presumed to be his only work of fiction (or is it?). ; 8vo .
