London: H. G. Clarke and Co., 1872. Very good overall. An attractive and unusual Tichborne Claimant item. A black and white silhouette cartoon in 16 frames each with a four line verse commenting on the case, trial, persons involved both in and out of the court. The Tichborne Trial captivated Victorian England in 1870s - a lost son returned and an estate with no heir. Orton was a butcher in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. He was eventually prosecuted for perjury and sentenced to two consecutive terms of seven years in prison. As usual, the Claimant is depicted as being obese. 1 illustrated sheet, 29 x 86 cm. folded to 15 x 12 cm. Publishers peach wrappers, advertising for Clarke's Galanty Shows, Holloway's Ointment, The Galanty Showman and The Little Modeller. Sml. splits expertly restored. Trove 20014247 cites two copies, at Monash University and the NLA.
