Black and white illustrated frontispiece and the other 49 illustrations within the text are by John Tenniel. Colour illustrated front cover, again by John Tenniel, with black coloured titles to the front panel and to the backstrip. Alice's second adventure, this time through the looking glass. The book is showing age and use. Creasing of the book corners with creasing either side of the back strip. Some small marks from insects can be seen to the book panels with signing and foxing also visible. Uniform tanning of the text block edges and pages with scattered foxing to the text block edges. Foxing to the verso of the book panels with a few foxing spots to the first few in last few pages of the book. Previous owners name to the top edge of the free front end page.
