London: The Sheldon Press, 1931. n.d. [1931] FIRST EDITION. 8vo, pp. [192] + colour frontis and b/w illustrations (occasionally coloured by an amateur hand). Fore and bottom edges untrimmed. Blue cloth, gilt lettering to spine. Spine sunned and leaning, wear and bruising to extremities. Dusty top edge, others tanned. Some foxing and toning to prelims and rear. Shaken. Else, clean. A good+ of Higham's children's novel, featuring Mogs and Jim adventuring in Roman Britain. Foreword by Catherine B. Firth. Madeline Maud Bellamy Higham � known as Maud � studied History at Newnham College, Cambridge (leaving without the title of a degree, as a woman), went on to teach history and write a raft of educational books.
