Boston, MA: East Boston Anti-Racists Defense, 1975. Leaflet and two press releases, neatly fold-creased, together with the original envelope; some pencil notations by the original recipient (for example, he wrote "Leaflet distributed in Boston area" at the top of one sheet). The leaflet is titled "Free the East Boston Anti-Racists," and describes how white mobs attacked two public housing projects in the context of the battle over busing in 1975. Rebuffed by police, the residents called on young men to defend the projects on their behalf. This time the police did come, not to arrest the original assailants, but the defenders. The press releases - one a single page, the other three pages - announce legal assistance from various quarters; most significantly, the Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts took up their cause.
