Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. Two offerings-one price. 1) Bonjour Tristesse: translated from the French by Irene Ash, John Murray, London, 1955, First Edition thus of her first novel, 132pp. Book (VG) ( has light reddish, cloth covered boards with white text on spine and white stamped patio plant and two ice cream chairs on lower right front panel. Top edge dyed, book is very slightly cocked, corners rubbed with bottom front bumped. Tail of spine has bit of discoloration. Priceclipped DJ (Fair) has darkened spine and is severely chipped with substantial material missing. Book was winner of the Grand Prix des Critiques. 2) Those Without Shadows: translated from the French by Frances Frenaye, E.P. Dutton & Company, New York, 1957, First Edition thus of her third novel. 125 pp. Book has top half cloth, bottom paper coverd boards. (VG) Spine has gilt title box with black text on top half, black title box with white text with author. Extremities are rubbed and scuffed, bottom front corner bumped. Author's monogram in gilt on top half of front panel. Price clipped DJ (G) is edge worn, chipped with some missing material. Both books are from the collection of Toronto author/poet, and often-times host of Harbourfront literary events, Greg as evidenced by his signature and the books' acquisition dates top ffep. Both books measure 7 1/2" X 5 1/4". Both offerings for one price. Bookseller's Inventory # 122964.
