Lucas after Dezailler and Alexandre Le Blond, including 29 double-page and 9 folding, mostly mounted on guards. Enlarged second edition of the important French treatise on garden design, first published 1709. This edition contains a new preface and six new engravings. the book was originally published under the author's initials alone, and was later also published under the name of its illustrator, Le Blond. BERLIN KAT. 3463. FOWLER 170. "This book, in which the methods of the great Le Notre (1513-1700) were reduced to a system, remains to this day the standard authority on the formal garden.
