About This Item
Sacramento, California: The Book Club of California, 1987. Special Limited Edition. Hardcover. As New. 4to 11" - 13" tall. Charles Shaw. One of a Special Limited Edition of only 450 copies, printed via letterpress at Wind River Press of Arizona. Laid in is an unusual disclaimer from the press ("Sometimes there's a delay") declaiming any responsibility for delays in printing, and they lamented lack of cattle prod. Sterling condition hardcover copy, with unbruised tips, tight binding, and clean internals, showing only very slight shelf- and edge-wear; not ex-library, with neither underlining nor highlighting anywhere. Bound handsomely in tan illustrated paper over boards, tan linen weave cloth-backed, with barely abraded paper label over spine. Illustrated endpapers, depicting the Route of Major Isaac H. Duval, Texas to California's Mother Lode, 1849. Foreword, then four Parts, an Epilogue, an Appendix comprised of the Roster of the Duval Company, footnotes, bibliography and index. Prospectus for this addition to the Series: The Book Club of California Publications, No. 186, laid in. The Wikipedia entry for Isaac Duval (1824-1902) shows that he was "an American adventurer and businessman prior to becoming a brigadier general in the Union Army during the American Civil War." Later he became a Scout and went to California in 1849 in celebration of the Gold Rush there. This document traces the Gila Trail journey from Texas to the Mother Lode Mines. xiii [1], 2-199 pp. complete with index.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
