About This Item

In Latin, some French. 381 pages; plus Statutes of the Société for 1881, Number 198 of 500 printed.

Very Good: some age-darkening of pages, particularly prefatory section, others quite acceptably bright. Binding completely tight and sound, all pages tight and untorn. Vol. lll des Publications de la Société de l'Orient Latin.. Bears signature and bookplate of Prof. K.M. Setton (1914-1995) of The Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Previously from the library of John L. La Monte.

Reinhold Röhricht (1842-1905) was arguably one of the most indefatigable, intensive, thorough and meticulous compilers, editors and organizers of materials relating to the history and topography of the Holy Land and the Crusades. Although not an historical synthesizer nor indeed an historian, but perhaps more of an antiquarian and researcher, Röhricht virtually singlehandedly laid the foundation for modern historical research and study of the Crusades.

Critical source documents for the Fifth Crusade (1218-1222) from lesser-known contemporary and near-contemporary writers.
