Rebacked with new endpapers. Illustrated profusely by J Whymper. Conder arrived in Palestine the summer of 1872 to command the Survey of Western Palestine. He returned to England in Sept 1875 with a mass of notes, surveys and observations. He had completed 4700 square miles. This is his personal history of the work. This is labelled a "new edition" one year after the first edition. .
