Foreword by author, glossary, list of illustrations, list of maps, chronology, additional reading and index. The text is illustrated with black-and-white photography, black-and-white illustrations and five maps within the text. Brick coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with red and black coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. A history of ancient Egypt through archaeology and the beginning (and continuation) of what is now known as Egyptology. Dust jacket has lost colour on the spine, leaving only the black writing, couple of small ships at the top of the spine section, short tear at the top of the front fold over. Price clipped. Internally clean, no annotations. Slight spotting of the top edge of the text block from dust. No other damage. This is the first UK edition. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
