Oakland: the Church, 1980. Newspaper. Two issues of the tabloid format newspaper, 12 and 24 pages respectively, horizontal fold, evenly toned, otherwise very good. Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, born Clifford Jones, established a church based on the principle of giving him cash up front that would be more than doubly repaid later - the basic definition of a Ponzi scheme. He packed the Oakland Paramount Theater with his rallies, raising some $10 million, only to be sentenced to 15 years in federal prison in 1980 for mail fraud.
