Zurich: Keller et Fussli. Loose leaf Folio. Good+/No Dust Jacket. No date, though circa 1830. A charming complete collection of 24 hand colored lithographs, each measuring approx. 3 1/2 x 4 inches, and depicting the traditional costume and dress of various regions and occupations within Switzerland. All sheets, along with a colored decorative title sheet are laid into their original paper folder which then slides into a stiff paper slip-sleeve. The images are generally very good or better in condition, though there are a couple with small spots and foxing. The title sheet remains bright and clear, though is darkened and smudged around the edges, and has a small inked number at the bottom edge and at the top of the verso. The teal folder that holds them is intact, though a bit soiled, and the salmon colored sleeve is very worn.

Lacking plate CCXXXI (Aletes, in the Tragedy of Creusa). Complete at the time of publication, though two additional volumes were published in 772. French and English title pages and text with red and black letters. Adam and Eve motif engraving below title, with Milton quote. Full leather covers are significantly worn and pitted. All covers, except for bottom of Volume II, are detached. Blank end leaves are detached. Light to sometimes moderate foxing throughout. Very good with some chipping and tears to the very fragile ( vellum ? ) cover papers. Fortunately, none of this extends into either the front or back illustrations. Internally very bright and clean. Vivid en pochoir Illustrations ( Highly refined stencil technique ). 20 in all, including the 2 covers, 13 individual plates, and 5 more in the folding supplement. One of the plates is missing, but seems to have been replaced by the one from the Feb. issue of the same year. 3 other four page illustrated sections with subjects ....Les Elegances de la Scene / Les Tailleurs Fantasie and Robes Legere. 2 pages of ads, and 2 pages with "description of our figures"..

Dark green library buckram with gilt-stamped spine title and call number. Plates state: "Aquatinted by R. Havell. Published June 1, 1815, by R. Havell." No date of publication. The first edition appeared in 1815; this "improved" edition was published in the 1820s. Stamped "Brooklyn Public Library" on upper and lower page edges, and back fixed endpaper; performated library stamp on added endgraved title page and title page; library number stamped at lower edge of title page.
