Columbus, Oh, 1857.. 54pp. 12mo. Contemporary wrappers. Faint browning. Very good. Later edition, after the first of the previous year, of one of the earliest treatises on this unconventional method of breaking horses. The work proved popular and appeared in a number of editions, including pirated or forged issues under various titles, a number of which are listed in Henderson, who gives the earliest version as published in 1856. The early editions are quite rare. Henderson notes of the present edition that the text is the same as the 1856 edition, but reset in smaller type. Adams lists only an 1858 printing, which he notes as "rare." HENDERSON, p.150. ADAMS HERD 1863 (another ed).
