Description:
Brisbane: published by C.F. Pearce, 1944. Octavo, original purple printed wrappers, [ii], 116 pp. An excellent copy. Rare first edition of a personal, and somewhat idiosyncratic, account of the New Guinea campaign. The author, Geoffrey Hamlyn-Harris, identifies himself as a Jackeroo from the western stations and writes a knockabout description of his involvement in the Owen-Stanley, Kokoda and Gona campaigns whilst serving in the 2/31 Battallion, A.I.F. This is an unusually nice copy of a book typically encountered in shabby condition, on account of the substandard wartime paper stock.
