London: Methuen, 1961. Brecht compiled this collection of stories, poems and anecdotes himself immediately on his return to Germany from exile in 1947. In giving this book its title he consciously recalled the 'peasant calendars'of an earlier age, when collections of satirical tales, fables and aphorisms were a traditional form of popular instruction and entertainment in rural areas of Germany. 124pp.. Cloth. Good Plus/Good Plus. 205x135mm.
