North Melbourne, Victoria: Cassell Australia, 1971. Poor is possibly an understatement in describing the jacket: it is now protected as it split in two and it is the plastic covering as much as the acid free tape on its verso holding it together; it has major loss at the head and tail of the spine and the edges are brittle. In its favour the front looks quite attractive. The book is ex Carringbush library; the front end paper, which forms part of a map, has been removed, though the map is repeated at the back; there is a square withdrawn stamp on the half title page; the copyright page is stained from a long lost label, the stain having seeped through to the title page, there is a Carringbush stamp and an accession label. Past this point, the book is in very good condition, unmarked clean and solid as though rarely read. 264 pages, indexed, illustrated. Number 166 of a thousand numbered copies. 'The Sydney Traders: Simeon Lord and His Contemporaries 1788-1821' deals with "The first Sydney entrepreneurs to create a business community and lay foundations of Australian trade, manufacturing, shipbuilding and exporting." (Trove). Hard Cover. Very Good/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex Library.
