About This Item

Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Doran & Co, 1932. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. 8vo., 208pp. Beautiful stated First Edition. Square, tight and clean throughout with just a touch of wear to the heel but quite insignificant. Remarkably well-preserves. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.00) has some rubbing to hinges and minor. Decent clipped dust wrapper has some mild rubbing to surface and hinges. A couple of barely noticeable closed edge tears. Minimal wear to edges. Fresh and bright with no chipping or creases. Full page presentation on the front end-paper, "Dear Mr, Frazier - you are taking a large hazard when you dispatch a book to its author, unsolicited and point blank. When he has finished his book, he may not want to see it again. He may have changed his address. He may not have paper & string handy, to say nothing of a stamp.-- I can't write put the Ballad of Librolarceny because I don't remember it & my copy of the book in which it appears is out in the country. But anyhow, here is the Swiss Family, signed on a busy day by a busy man. Christopher Morley". Clearly Morley is at his ironic and sarcastic best as the recipient likely got a lot more than he was requesting. A sharp collectable copy with a lovely inscription.
