Lansdowne Press, Melbourne, 1963. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Photographic. Foreword by Mr. Justice Herron,President Australian Swimming Union. The text is illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographs and line illustrations. Tan coloured boards with silver coloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with white and aqua coloured titles to the front panel and black and aqua coloured titles to the back strip. A book on will teaching, competing, diving, history of swimming in Australia. There are even chapters devoted to surfing and the Surf Lifesaving Association. Contributors include Dawn Fraser, Andrew (Boy) Charlton, Don Talbot, Forbes Carlyle and Murray Rose, amongst others. Softening of the back strip edges with fading to the top edge – commensurate with loss of dustwrapper. A little bumping of the book corners and there is patchy fading to the top edges. Uniform light tanning of the text block edges with scattered foxing, faint, also present. Offset tanning to the endpages with very faint foxing throughout. The dustwrapper is in shaky shape. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. A few small tears to the top dustwrapper edge and to the lower front edge with associated creasing. Sunning of the back strip and rear panel and handling marks are quite obvious. A black cross has been made to the top right-hand corner of the front panel – please see photograph.
