Sweet Thursday is the sequel to Cannery Row and set in the years after the end of World War II. According to the author, "Sweet Thursday" is the day between Lousy Wednesday and Waiting Friday. Returning to the scene of Cannery Row,the weedy lots and junk heaps and flophouses of Monterey, John Steinbeck once more brings to life the denizens of a netherworld of laughter and tears, from Doc, based on Steinbeck's lifelong friend Ed Ricketts, to Fauna, new headmistress of the local brothel, to Hazel, a bum whose mother must have wanted a daughter.

Synopsis

Sweet Thursday is a 1954 novel by John Steinbeck. It is a sequel to Cannery Row and set in the years after the end of World War II. According to the author, "Sweet Thursday" is the day after Lousy Wednesday and the day before Waiting Friday.
