New York: Simon and Schuster, 1955. Cloth. Very Good +/Very Good. The 1955 stated 1st edition, in its less common hardback. This copy, while perfectly presentable and attractive, includes a publisher's printing error (in which the image of the front cover has been printed over what should have been the copyright and dedication pages). In spite of this, solid and VG, with a band of light offsetting to the top and bottom edges. Internally, very clean, with no writing or markings apart from the publisher's printing error. And in a crisp, price-clipped, VG dustjacket, with light chipping and creasing along the spine and several small closed tears at the panel edges. 12mo, a brilliant fusing of text and image, with Langston Hughes's narrative accompanying Roy De Carava's rich gravures.

Description:
New York: Simon and Schuster, 1955. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good -. A solid copy of the 1955 stated 1st printing, in its less common hardback edition. Tight and VG+ to Near Fine (very light offsetting along the edges) in a crisp, price-intact ($2.95), VG- example of the fragile dustjacket, with a small degree of chipping at the spine ends, light creasing and wear to the edges, and mild soiling along the panels. Still though, presentable and attractive, and internally, clean as could be, with no writing or markings of any kind. 12mo, one of the great pairings of text and image in 20th century African-American lieterature, with Langston Hughes's moving narrative beautifully complementing Roy De Carava's keenly-felt gravure photographs.
