Pictorial boards with red leatherette spine with gilt lettering. Boards a little rubbed to corners o/w FINE. Profusely illustrated with colour drawings and photographs. The covers are integral colour boards, with gilt titles on red section of the front board and the red spine. The book displays illustrated end papers. The front end paper consists of a map of the Middle East with Turkey and Iran highlighted, together with a list of the major carpet weaving centres of Turkey, Iran and Turkistan / Caucasia. The book is copiously illustrated with coloured photography of Turkey and Iran and the surrounding districts, the various carpet-weaving processes and, of course, a vast cornucopia of carpet designs. The binding is sound and tight, and the pages are in excellent condition, showing no signs of foxing and only traces of sunning on some pages, mostly at the front and back. A most well researched and engaging book, the information here presented is only surpassed by the wealth of coloured reproductions of the various carpets covered, the majority of which are presented in the form of full-page plates.
