About This Item

1499 INCUNABLE Martin Luther Reformation Mantuanus Calamitatibus Heretics Heresy

Baptista Mantuanus was a Carmelite poet whose 15th-century works were influential during the Protestant Reformation. One of his most important poems was "De suorum temporum calamitatibus" – a work which was famously used by Martin Luther in his treatise against the papacy. "Calamitatibus" was Mantuanus's views on the sinful nature and culture of those living apart from the church.

This 1499 incunabula printing is exceedingly rare and highly valuable. This entirely complete tome is bound in exquisite red-leather and includes a protective custom case.
