Sungods in Exile by Robin-Evans, Karyl - 1978: Secrets of the Dzopa of Tibet

A striking and very scarce 'fake' non-fiction work. The book tells of an apparent 1947 expedition to Tibet in which the author Robin-Evans visited the Bayan Har Mountains. He claimed that the Dzopa tribe he found was of extraterrestrial origin and had crashed on Earth. The book features photographs of the tribe and the alleged Dropa stones which contained messages from the extra-terrestrials. Although researchers were unable to locate the apparently dead author, the stones appeared regularly in UFO subculture and author Hartwig Hausdorf popularized the story in his book The Chinese Roswell. Later variations of the story added a fictional Professor Tsum Um Nui of the equally invented Beijing Academy for Ancient Studies who decoded the language of the stones. In 1995, British author David Gamon admitted in Fortean Times that he had written the book as a hoax under the pseudonym of David Agamon, inspired by the popularity of Erich von Däniken and his books on ancient astronauts. The source material for the story was taken from a 1960s magazine article in Russian Digest, and a 1973 French science fiction novel Les Disques de Biem-Kara, by Daniel Piret.

An excellent copy and very scarce as such. Pages are bright and tidy. No marks, creases or browning, just some minor foxing on the EPs. Cloth boards are tight and clean.
