London: George Allen & Unwin, 1971. Second Printing (same as first) . Hardcover. Fine/Quite Nice. SECOND PRINTING of FIRST EDITION. This is identical to the first printing except that the dust jacket flap corner has price of £6.95 instead of £5.50 and the top edge of the text block is tinted blue. There are no other differences in the first and second printing (which is nearly always sold mistakenly as the first printing). Original blue cloth with silver lettering spine. PHOTOS are of the actual book being offered (not generic stock photos). This original 1971 edition has 78 photos compared to 10 photos found in the later reprints. Book measures 24cm tall x 155mm, and has 344 pages, 78 b/w photos, 8 maps, index. INSCRIBED & SIGNED by Diemberger on the title page in the usual ugly thick black marker preferred by Diemberger. BOOK CONDITION: fine with clean covers, tight binding, no foxing, previous owner's name stamped discreetly in very small font to corner of rear pastedown otherwise no previous owner marks or writing on any pages. DUST WRAPPER CONDITION: quite nice and clean, minor flecking very ends of spine and spine crease, no tears, 100% complete with original price on flap.
