Illustrated throughout with decorative head and tail pieces plus frontis and fifteen full page plates, each with a plain paper guard. Neat previous owners 3 line inscription (dated 1876) on the half title. Some minor spotting to a few pages but generally a clean and bright copy in the publishers highly decorative green cloth binding with bevelled edged boards. Elaborate gilt and blind stamped decoration and lettering to the front board. The rear board with a blind stamped decorative panel pattern. Spine fully decorated and lettered in gilt. Off white endpapers. All edges gilt. Some bumping to the extremities and the spine a little dulled but overall a very good copy of this pretty book. A classic piece of decorative Victoriana.

Contemporary full red grained morocco, spine with gilt rules, lettering and embellishment. Boards with double gilt border rules, foliar and floral embellishment, edge tooling, inner foliar curlicues. All edges gilt, (gilding a little faded in places), green silk ribbon bookmark. Small area of surface loss to lower board (see photo). Corner tips lightly rubbed. Occasional light spotting, mainly to free endpapers. Text and plates crisp and bright.
Guy Toussaint Julien Carron (1760-1821) born in Rennes. Educator, writer and philanthropist who founded a number of social and educational institutions: schools, libraries and pharmacies while in exile in England. Deported to Jersey (1792-1796), on the Bourbon Restoration in 1814, Carron returned to France and became head of the Institut de Marie - Thérèse.

Thomas Nelson & Sons. London. ND. [1915] 1915. FIRST EDITION. Large 8vo. (9.3 x 701 inches). Illustrated with 12 full page colour plates and line drawings around the text pages opposite each plate, plus illustrated title page, all by Anderson. A little browning to the blank endpapers and a neat previous owner name on the front free endpaper, otherwise a very good, clean copy in the publishers grey cloth covered boards. Full colour illustrated onlay to the front board and green line border, decoration and lettering. Blue cloth spine lettered in dark blue. Aside from some darkening to the plain spine and minor rubbing to the extremities this is a very good copy. The book is undated but the British Library catalogue gives the publication date as 1915.

Autobiographical book of Shepard childhood, later famous for his children illustration in particular books by AA Milne. A fine book in excellent condition. Internally clean with clean boards and clear red top stain. VG+ or better dust jacket. Some minor edgewear and some very small chips. Now in a protective cover, unclipped. An exceptional copy in collectors condition, the 2nd of Shepard's bibliographical works following on Drawn from Memory. Many of Shepard's drawings adorn the pages. A very fine book, small smudge at the bottom edge. Internally book is pristine (as new) with no marks internally. Tight binding and seems unread. Clear red top stain. A like dust jacket that is very fine. Unclipped, with 25s price visible. Now in a protective cover. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 190 pages .
