New York, NY: American Slav Congress, 1946. Softcover. First edition; 5 x 7 3/4; pp. 61; illustrated brick-red wraps; small rubbed spots to spine; illustrated with photographs; very good to near fine. In late 1941 and early 1942, with the German army invading Russia and the US entering the Second World War, a huge all-Slavic convention gathered in Detroit on April 25 to 28, 1942. Thus, the American Slav Congress was founded with the purpose of operating as an ally and a pressure group on behalf of the Soviet Union within the US. Both the Russian Head of State Mikhail Kalinin and President Roosevelt approved of the organization. Bulgarian-American George Pirinsky, the author of the current book, was ASC's Secretary General and, arguably, the most active member of the movement.
