Quarto, first edition, pp. 18, 33 single-sided plates, plus frontispiece photo, brown cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine, 34 duotone reprints made by Lee Friedlander with preface by Friedlander and a 10-page conversation among Friedlander and other experts. These are Bellocq's only surviving photos, as far as anybody knows. Dust jacket is first state with original $12.95 price, which was gradually increased for later states. Condition of this book: Jacket chipped at edges. Boards sunned at edges. Size: Quarto. 88. Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Dust Jacket is chipped, especially in the rear. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: 1-2 kilos. New York: The Museum of Modern Art, 1970. Second printing. Hardcover. The now classic book of 34 photographs of prostitutes from New Orleans' Red-Light District. Edited by John Szarkowski. Features a preface by photographer Lee Friedlander who also was the printer of these images. A clean near fine copy in cloth boards with a small former owner signature ot the front free endpaper and in a very good dust jacket with a chip to the base of the front panel and some edge tears and other wear. Despite the litany of flaws this is still a solid copy of a terrific book.
