A book, which has been regarded as one of the '100 best spiritual books of the 20th century'. This work covers Gandhi's life from his early childhood through to 1931. It was originally written in weekly instalments published in his journal 'Navjivan' from 1925 to 1929. The English instalments also appeared in his other journal 'Young India'. In the original publisher's cloth binding in excellent condition and rare to see in such a clean state. This is the first volume of two regarding Gandhi's life. This was all that was issued at the time of publication, with the second volume appearing in 1929. The two volumes are seldom found together. An unusually bright copy of this work, which remains in a very clean condition. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Just some minor bumping to the extremities. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper, 'With Best Regards, K M Chokshi, London June 28' with the address below '56 Cossingham Road NW11'. Internally, firmly bound.
