Territory of Hawaii: Honolulu Star-Bulletin, 1925. First Edition. Thick Large Octavo. xvi, 915 pages, profusely illustration. This work expanded the earlier Men of Hawaii to inlcude the scientific, civic and other neglected personalities. As the earliest pioneers from the early period. Besides providing an early history of Hawaii and its rulers, it also includes much on the early missionaries, economic investments and the development of the pineapple industry as well as the U.S. growing role in terms of its Navy..(For example, the Big Five including Baldwin, Brewer, Castle, and the monopoly that created extraordinary wealth after annexation. Essential for both genealogy and the history of what became Hawaii, this work was not only printed but carefully researched on the many hundreds of leaders whose biographies and photographs appear. A handsome copy, near fine bound in brown cloth, central gilt title within circular frame, spine lettering raised.
