OldBURY, BIRMINGHAM: BRITISH INDUSTRIAL PLASTICS LIMITED, 1963 Green grain effect cloth boards with gilt titles to spine and front board. 250 x 190 mm approx.Top edge stained red.68pp. 6 full page colour illustrations and many b/w woodblock type illustrations. History of British Industrial Plastics Limited from its founding in 1894 on the merging of Chance and Hunt Ltd and Albright and Wilson Ltd to exploit Chemical production of Cyanide used in the extraction of gold from low grade ore. A process which expanded rapidly in the 1890's in the gold producing countries notably South Africa. The company formed was known as The British Cyanides Company. The book follows the expansion and diversification of its business; the gas works by product; chemicals for use by the Ministry of Munitions in WWI, tableware under the trade mark Beatl and later Beetleware, the WWII contribution of Beetle A adhesive as a filler/glue in the manufacture of the Mosquito aircraft; the production of Filon translucent sheeting used in the building industry up to the take over of the company in 1961 by Turner and Newall Ltd. The copy of this company history has a printed note From C.S.Dingley inscribed in ink "with compliments and kind regards " and initialled by him affixed to the front free end paper no other inscription or previous owner name. VG+ in original glacine wrapper.(Book- no notable defects. Note as above affixed to free front end paper. In Publisher's Glacine Jacket- rubbed with nicks to extremities).
