The text is illustrated with numerous colour and black-and-white photographs, colour and black-and-white illustrations and numerous maps. 1/4 dark red coloured cloth covered backstrip with gilt coloured titles and decoration. 3/4 cream-coloured textured boards with gilt coloured titles and brown coloured illustrations to the front panel. First published in 1952. This is the story of the Bible via archaeology for young people. Rubbing of the backstrip edges and some softening also present. A small split to the top right-hand corner of the backstrip. Light tanning of the textblock edges and age toning of the pages. Previous owners ex libris plate to the free front end page.
