London: Macmillan and Co, 1911. First Edition. Small Quarto. First published in Naples and in the Neapolitan dialect by G. Basile, Conte di Torrone, who is believed to have collected them chiefly in Crete and Venice, and to have died about the year 1637. The following version follows the translation by John Edward Taylor, published in 1847. The works within this volume were selected and edited by D.F. Strange and illustrated with 32 color illustrations by Warwick Goble. A very nice copy bound in red pictorial gilt cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt, off-setting to front free endpaper from something once laid in, some fading to cloth but a very nice copy.
