NY, Garland Publishing, 1984, first edition.. Issued without dust jacket, printed on 250-year-life acid-free paper, a very important and influential book about the books that John Steinbeck read and which may have influenced him and his writing, this a very scarce book that seldom comes on the market, long out of print, according to DeMott, the print-run for this book was between 250 and 500 copies, this was one of his own personally-retained copies, Signed by DeMott on the title page below his crossed-out printed name, DeMott has also penned a quote from Steinbeck on the title page below his signature ("There are never enough books."--/Steinbeck), together with: Among the Brilliants of Books: Steinbeck's Reading in his later career, a slim broadside, c.3.75X9 inches, tipped onto plain brown wrappers, being an announcement for the Sept. 17, 1985 meeting of the Roxburghe Club where DeMott spoke about his then-recent book. Near fine.
