Kansas City, MO: Burton Publishing Company, 1950. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Grey cloth with white and black lettering and pictorial stamping, pictorial dust jacket. 284pp. Frontispiece, illustrations, map and pictorial endpapers. Very good/very good. Binding faintly age toned, with endpaper gutters toned per usual; jacket a bit edgeworn, with large chip at head of spine and expert archival mends on verso. A handsome, tight first edition of the memoir of this famed steamboat captain (1869-1957). And we thought that famed, prolific Mississippi River historian William "Steamboat Bill" Petersen was the only "Steamboat Bill"! Rather uncommon.
