T. T. K. ( TTK ) , Japan, 1961. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrated end pages showing a outline of a Steam Locomotive. Bound in full brown coloured cloth covered boards with a black coloured design of a locomotive. Profusely illustrated with period and vintage sepia & black and white photography of Japanese steam locomotives includes a 3 page fold-out coloured illustration of the early period, and a fold-out blue print of Tank Engine 614 by B. Arai. The manufacturers of Tank Engine No. 614 was the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-Le-Willows, Lancashire. Photographs are captioned in both Japanese and English. Limited edition, of which this is number 01184. Colour illustrated dust wrapper (wraparound), with light-coloured titles to the front panel and black-and-white coloured titles to the back strip covered with an issued clear plastic dust wrapper. Starting from when Steam Locomotives were introduced to Japan, 1871, through to 1959, this book is a pictorial history of the locomotives of the steam era. Captions are predominantly in Japanese, but there are English translations. Some rubbing of the lower book edges and foxing to the top edges. Faint fine foxing to the text block edges with very, very light tanning. Some handling marks to the end pages, particularly the rear end page. To the top left-hand corner of the rear paste-down a small insect panel can be seen, and fine foxing to the end pages. The dust wrapper appears to be in very good shape with just a hint of rubbing and dusting us to the top and bottom edges. The clear plastic cover is somewhat more used looking, with creasing of the edges and the little rubbing of the panels and the rear panel being quite "loose". Limited Edition.
