First edition of Gaines's first novel, the sourcework for the 1976 film adaptation, directed by Bob Rafelson, based on Gaines and Rafelson's collaborative screenplay. Jeff Bridges, Sally Field, and Arnold Schwarzenegger starred, the latter garnering a Golden Globe for his first non-documentary film role.
