About This Item

Van Nuys, California: Pike Books, 1964. Misbound Reprint . Mass Market Paperback. Very Good. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Exceedingly scarce. Being a George H. Smith collector, I wonder if there ever were a novel titled "State of Torment". The back cover teaser suggests a sadomasochistic plot - but between the covers we find John [AKA Charles Nuetzel] Davidson's very scarce novel "Appointment with Terror" (Pike Books # 204). Regarding the Davidson: "Just out of prison, he was definitely looking for some action at the party. He stopped before Rena. Then his hand jerked out and wrapped around her neck. He yanked her face to his, powerfully forcing her lips against his mouth." 160 pages. CONDITION: a solid, uncreased copy with light shelf-wear (just a touch of rubbing on the off-white front panel), unmarked but for a pair of "remainder" lines on the page-block top and bottom, with just a hint of spine-lean. This rarity is now in a clear, protective polypropylene bag. NOTE: A higher resolution scan of the front cover and/or a rear cover scan will gladly be supplied on request. This small item will be shipped with a complimentary upgrade to trackable First Class on domestic (US) orders.
