RANDOM HOUSE. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket. 1939. Early Printing. Hardcover. Quarto yellow cloth, yellow lettering blocked in red. Two previous titles to the copyright page. Light bumps to the corners and spine ends. A couple of minor stains to the front cover. A short owner inscription to the upper, front free endpaper. The dust jacket has chips to the corners and spine ends. A 3" tear to the lower spine edge along with another 3" tear to the lower, front flap fold. A crease joins to these two tears. Creasing to lower, rear, at the spine. Ad for Horton Hatches the Egg to the rear flap. Price of $2.50 to the front flap. Likely a circa 1950 printing. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall .

San Francisco: A. M. Robertson. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1912. First Edition. Hardcover. Gray paper-covered boards with paper labels to front and spine. Paper splitting at spine ends, slight corner wear. Endpages toned. A PO has inked a third verse to the poem on p. 73. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 100 pages .

A. M. Robertson, 1912. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Boards very good with light edgewear. Spine square. Binding sound. No jacket. Photographs of Smith laid-in at pages 16-17, with attendant toning; pages lightly foxed; interior else clean and bright, text unmarked. Pages uncut.

First edition hardback original, a Near Fine+ copy with top front point bumped, a few traces of grubbiness to rear boards, and an Ex-Libris sticker inside front cover under flap, in a Very Good+ dusty jacket with slight loss at head and top points, a few spots of grubbiness hear and there, a crease to inside front flap at bottom, a thin line of abrasion at heel; quite a nice copy for a book more than 100 years old. Not in Currey. Not in Bleiler's Guide to Supernatural Horror. Bleiler Checklist (1978), page 181. Sidney-Fryer, Emperor of Dreams, page 128. Formerly my own copy, replaced
with a signed copy.

First edition hardback, a Very Good copy with a long crease running down the middle part of the spine and traces of wear to cloth, front hinge just starting at bottom, slight bumping at head and heel and page blocks dusty, in a Very Good dust jacket with faint soiling to front and rear, a 1/2″ x 1/8″ chip at rear heel join, shallow chipping at head, and crease to top front corner. Inscribed twice by Smith (the first apparently with a fountain pen, the second with a ballpoint): "Clark Ashton Smith/Auburn, Cal/Nov. 27th, 1912" then "For Harry Rosenberry/with sincere compliments/of Clark Ashton Smith/Apr. 14th, 1961," which was exactly four months before his death. Signed and dated by Smith on the front free endpaper, "Clark Ashton Smith, / Auburn, Cal., Nov. 16th, 1912." The author's first book. 2000 copies printed of which approximately 1000 sets of unbound sheets were destroyed by fire.
