Two small stamps on fore 'n aft endpapers "Library Eastern Washington State Hospital" A good copy to fill out a broken set, AS NEW. St. Ives is an unfinished novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was completed in 1898 by Arthur Quiller-Couch. The book plot concerns the adventures of the dashing Viscomte Anne de Keroual de St. Ives, a Napoleonic soldier enlisted as a private under the name Champdivers, after his capture by the British.

Moderate foxing and tanning to pages with heavier foxing and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Slight dog-eared pages throughout and heavier foxing and tanning to text block edges. Rear hinge is cracked with exposed netting and rear endpapers are coming away from binding. Boards have visible rubbing and minor bumping to corners. Fair crushing to spine ends. Unclipped jacket with visible edge wear and rubbing. Notable sunning to spine and splitting to joints. There is visible tearing to corners, edges and spine ends and area of loss to rear.

First edition and seventh printing of Pocket Edition from this publisher - 'Large Type Fine-Paper Edition'. In good black cloth boards, blind stamped titles and decoration to front, gilt titles and pattern to back strip. The covers are fairly firm, a little shelf-cocked, quite clean, spine ends bumped. Slightly tanned end papers, verse in pen to front free end paper and in pencil to front paste down. Gilt top cut edge; the fore and tail edges are tanned. Text block is firm, though front free end paper a little loose; and pages unmarked. Good plus condition.
