In May 2009 Australian mountain climber Mick Parker was found dead in a Kathmandu hotel room he was 36. But, for a short time that he was alive he had climbed the world's highest mountains over 8000 m and above without the aid of oxygen, guides or other assistance; and, 13 days before had reached the summit of Makalu (8463 m) in the Himalayas and taken a selfie and then descended safely.
