Plus 18 numbered plates, some of which are compound, made up from several copperplates, with about 140 engraved impressions of coins, one impression clipped out, leaving a slice also at the adjoining leaf. Copper-engraved main head-piece, being a small plate in itself. Engraved title vignette, depicting 2 faces of a coin. Woodcut illustrated initials and head-piece to main text. Tear to one leaf of text with no loss. HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary full calf, spine with raised bands, upper joint split but very firm, gilt decorated compartments, gilt lettering, wear traces but neat, presentable binding. In a very good condition. Clean interior, good strikes of plates. ~ FIRST EDITION. Collated in accordance with the Dutch Royal Library's copy. Printed by Thomas Moette (1659-1710), Paris. The second edition appeared in 1695 (Leipzig, Thomam Fritsch). Andreas Morel [Morell] (1646-1703). Lipsius p. 267. Goldsmith M1403. Provenance: from the private collection of J. B.
