Set XVII: Miscellaneous - a rare set of historical Soviet Composer brochures, representing several then-Soviet-country composers, published by the Union of Soviet Composers. Some are in Russian only [R]; some in English only [E]; some in both [R/E]. Each contains a brief biographical sketch and a catalogue of compositions (until the date of the brochure's publication). Balis Dvarionas (1904-1972/Lithuania; E; to 1960); Jevdet Gajiev (1917-2002/Azerbaijan; E; to 1962); Valeri Gavrilin (1939-1999/Russia; R/E; to 1975); Vladimir Ryabov (b.1950/Russia; R&E [2 brochures]; to 1989); Otar Taktakishvili (1924-1989/Georgia; E; to 1959). BONUS: photocopy of the brochure of Andrei Balanchivadze (brother of famed ballet choreographer George Balanchine. CONDITION: The brochure conditions vary from Very Good to Fine, unmarked and uncreased - the set now in a clear, protective polypropylene bag with archival backing board.
