This vintage guide book is in near fine collectible condition with small math notations to bottom edge last page made by a previous owner. A 7 1/2 by 9 1/2 inch, 60 page Souvenir Guide Book. See Photos; Ickworth House is a country house near Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England. It is a neoclassical building set in parkland. The house built between 1795 and 1829, was formerly the chief dwelling of an estate owned by the Hervey family, later Marquesses of Bristol, since 1467. The building was the creation of Frederick Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol and Bishop of Derry who commissioned the Italian architect Asprucci to design him a classical villa in the Suffolk countryside. The Earl died in 1803, leaving the completion of house to his successor. In 1956, the house, park, and a large endowment were given to the National Trust in lieu of death duties. As part of the handover agreement, a 99-year lease on the 60-room East Wing was given to the Marquess of Bristol. However, in 1998 the 7th Marquess of Bristol sold the remaining lease on the East Wing to the National Trust. This wing is now a 27-bedroom hotel. This nicely Illustrated guide and souvenir booklet's contents include: Plan of the House, Tour of the House, The Orangery and Garden, Family Tree, History of Ickworth, Bibliography. ; Family Tree Photos Drawings Maps .

About biblioboy

We are biblioboybiblioboy dealers in Books, Stamps, Ephemera, Victorian Trade cards, Magazines, Postcards, Sheet Music, Engravings, and much more. I started out as a book collector and soon progressed to owning a book store with over 80,000 books and more than 10,000 pieces of ephemera, postcards, and other items. I exhibited my stock for years at book and paper shows around the eastern United States. As the book and paper business has changed over the years, I have changed the way I do business to evolve with the times. I now offer my items for sale on the web only, through my various listing services and web sites. Being a a collector, as well as a dealer, I understand the importance of condition, as well as rarity of an item, and the desire to own scarce and one of a kind items.
