About This Item

Chicago: Henry Regnery Company, 1962. Hardcover. 8vo. Grey cloth with red spine lettering. viii, 242pp. Very good. Internally fine and with just the faintest of edgewear. A tight, nice first edition of this study of Latin-American affairs during the Cold War by this prominent San Francisco attorney and Under Secretary of Commerce (1959-61) under Sinclair Weeks (1912-70). He boldly signs the front flyleaf in full in blue ballpoint. Tipped to a blank inner flyleaf is a Typed Letter Signed (onion skin) from Ray, 1p, 8½" X 11", n.p., 13 August 1963. Addressed to Robert Malott (1926-2018), noted Chicago businessman, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist. Very good. Faintly age toned, with original folds. Detailed, chatty personal note regarding a stay in Malott's home. Signed in blue ballpoint "As ever / Peter."
